Fusionex GIANT to be incorporated into APU Syllabus

Fusionex, a multi-award-winning, leading software solutions provider specializing in Big Data Analytics (BDA) and Internet of Things (IoT), recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), to provide APU students with access to knowledge on software expertise that are crucial for the Big Data industry.

“This shows that interest and market demand for Big Data analytics has multiplied in the last two years. However while the industry is growing rapidly, there’s a serious lack of talent available in the data industry. And that is hampering its growth,” KM Chen, Vice President of Fusionex.

“Through the MoA with APU, Fusionex-developed BDA platform GIANT will be incorporated into the syllabus at APU to give students real-world experience using full-fledged BDA software. Besides that, Fusionex is committed to sharing knowledge with the students, in our efforts to help increase the talent pool of data professionals in Malaysia,” adds Chen.

Professor Ron Edwards, Vice Chancellor of APU shares, “There is a great shortage of talent in the field of data analytics. To address the talent shortage, APU has developed Diploma, Degree, Masters and Doctoral programs in data analytics. This strategy is designed to create a substantial pipeline of talent for Malaysia in the years to come. We are glad to have begun this collaboration with Fusionex which will accelerate the development of quality data analytics graduates.” The collaboration is line with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation’s (MDEC) aim to increase the number of Malaysian data scientist by 2000 and data professionals to 16,000 by 2020.

Accessing the GIANT

With access to GIANT, students will be able to increase their skills and master the powerful tool in order to be able to enter the industry with a better understanding on Big Data.

GIANT is used across a broad range of industries for its in depth analytical capabilities. By using BDA, these companies are able to gain insight into their data, from managing stock levels, to predicting customer trends and much more. The end-to-end BDA platform that is GIANT will allow APU students to learn the A-to-Z of data management.

“At the same time, Fusionex will be offering internships and industrial training opportunities for APU students. Students who intern at Fusionex will discover what it’s like to work in a creative, exciting environment where they will be able to learn first-hand how data is processed and used to change the way different industries such as aviation, manufacturing to retail run their business,” says Chen.

Fusionex will also extend access to real world case studies for the academic staff and students research activities so that they can learn to tackle specific problems.

“Big data analytics is transforming how businesses react and engage with their customers. Fusionex is committed to not only enabling our clients but in also empowering the industry with the right talent to accelerate the growth of this ever evolving industry," Chen concluded.
